Pamela Browne

Reviewing the last 15–20 years of the tech community in Greenville, there are people like Pamela and the other folks that have been recognized today who have laid the groundwork.

I look back at the Hack Greenville website in 2010: before Pam arrived, we had six meetup groups. I think we had no conferences. Since then, we have added 70 groups. I think we have four or five conferences now. The women's group started by Pam. SC Codes started by Pam. She's involved with the Hack Greenville committee. She's involved with Hack Greenville nights. She's a relentless volunteer at OpenWorks. On and on.

In fact, I ran the numbers: I think Pam started at least 10% of the groups, and she has been involved with or hosted at least 40% of those groups. Pam is a model for someone who is not even day-to-day a code person, but is helping make a huge difference in the Greenville community.
